Then the fun began. I dumped all my cut strips onto the floor and started picking one up at random (often with my eyes closed!) and sewing them around and around until the foundation was completely covered. (And unfortunately that's the step I forgot to take photographs of, probably because I was too busy obsessively sewing!)

I then cut each block down to a 12" square, sewed them all together will the pale blue sashing (that's the strips in between the crazy blocks) and added the borders. I had a minor adventure at that point, as I had bought the last of the border fabric and I ran out before I had finished adding the borders. It looked like it was going to be a several month wait while more arrived from America - via ship! - but I managed to beg and plead until I found that two of the people I work with had a little bit each in their cupboards at home. They kindly handed it over and I had enough to finish.

I then cut out all the letters and spent a couple of days just shifting them all around a bit until I was happy with the way it all looked. At the point I ironed down the words (meaning they were stuck for eternity) and stitched around the edges.
